Reaching out for care can feel like a difficult thing to do and I believe that feeling like your therapist is a right fit for you is an important part of this process. I am here to show you how you can use the creative process to work with your anxiety, burnout, stress while navigating adulthood.
I know what it is like to feel stuck in my anxiety and not understanding it as an emotion. My goal is to help you get a deeper understanding of your unique experience with anxiety and explore it through creative means while simultaneously creating an action plan of skills to use outside of sessions. Again, I am so glad you're here. If you want to learn more about me keep reading on.

Meet Connor Morris
Art Therapist (DKATI), Registered Psychotherapist,
Fellow Anxious and Messy Human
Hi! I'm Connor. I have been in the art therapy field since 2017 when I first began my baccalaureate diploma in art therapy after receiving my bachelors of psychology. I have since become a member of the Canadian Art Therapy Institute and a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
I opened my private practice called Birchwood Art Therapy in early 2021. Still in the middle of the pandemic, in the town of Huntsville where I had just moved and didn't know anyone, I took this chance. I have been working in private practice ever since.
What I learned about myself and my work is that I feel passionate about helping people understand their anxiety through creativity and other approaches. Part of this is that my own personal experience with chronic anxiety has informed the way I show up for my client's.

A therapist with lived anxiety experience
I have always felt that it's been important to be a human with my clients. I myself, struggled for many years with chronic anxiety and panic attacks. Much of what I have learned comes from personal experience. That's how I know exactly what it is like and how difficult it can feel. I really get it.
To the left are personal creations I have made during some of the more difficult times of my anxiety. Art was able to help me express what words couldn't at the time. I want to pass this knowledge on to others and show them the benefits of creating and explore this with an art therapist.

Connection
I believe in the importance of trust and relationship within the therapeutic relationship. This can take time to develop and I believe involves ongoing conversation, me showing up as human and understanding the role of connection and community in the context of healing.
Growth
I believe that part of my role is to continually learn, grow and seek consultation. I always have a book or new topic I am exploring. I also believe in providing you with real, tangible skills for your own growth. You are the expert on you and I believe that we can learn together.
Creativity
Of course, as an art therapist, I see the magic that creativity can provide. I work with you to show and guide you creative processes. I also believe that therapy is not one size fits all. Sometimes it involves coming up with creative solutions together. I want you to feel empowered through your whole process.
