Finding rest, calm and trust within your body again

My health concerns haven't been taken seriously. This has left me feeling dismissed, anxious, angry and confused.

I'm struggling with insomnia. The lack of sleep is affecting my life and I now becoming anxious about sleeping.

I keep replaying past medical experiences that were difficult. I have become fearful of anything medical related.

I don't feel safe in my body, I feel that it is going to betray me. I feel exhausted by the constant thought of it.

Living with health stress or navigating medical experiences can take a deep emotional toll. You might be coping with ongoing health concerns, medical trauma, postpartum changes, or the weight of feeling dismissed or unheard in healthcare settings. You may even be the caregiver of someone going through medical issues. These experiences can leave the body in a constant state of alert. Through therapy, we can gently explore these emotions, rebuild trust in your body, and create space for calm and self-compassion.

Medical trauma happens when past experiences with illness, treatment, or hospitalization leave lasting emotional or psychological effects. You may feel anxious, hyper-vigilant, or avoid medical care altogether. These experiences can resurface unexpectedly and affect your sense of safety in your body.

What we might focus on:

  • Processing difficult medical or postpartum experiences in a safe, creative way

  • Releasing stored tension or fear held in the body

  • Exploring emotions around medical dismissal, gaslighting, or loss of trust in healthcare settings

  • Reducing anxiety and hypervigilance related to health or medical procedures

  • Reconnecting with your body through mindful, sensory-based artmaking

  • Supporting grief, identity changes, and adjustment related to illness or recovery

  • Building self-compassion, empowerment, and a renewed sense of safety within your body

  • You may be a caregiver with someone with medical needs and we can focus on your care

"Today, we are burdened not only by the legacy of ignorance, indifference, oppression, and subjugation toward women’s medical issues but also an entire system built around it"

 Framework For Therapy

I approach therapy with an understanding of how past experiences can impact the nervous system, emotions, and relationships. My focus is on creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and empowering.

Modalities & Tools

Art Therapy uses creative expression as a way to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences. No artistic skill is needed. It's about the process of creating and what comes out of that and not the art looks like. Art therapy isn't about teaching arts-based skills but it is a way. to explore your inner world and representing it in a tangible way. Art therapy allows clients to express feelings that may be difficult to articulate with words. Although, it is also very common to talk through what is going on for you during an art therapy session. Generally a combination of creating and discussion is involved. For many, the act of creating art provides a safe, nonverbal way to express feelings that might otherwise remain buried. Art therapists facilitate this process, guiding clients through the therapeutic journey while offering support, insight, and a safe environment for self-exploration.
