Meet Connor Morris
Art Therapist (DKATI), Registered Psychotherapist,
Fellow Anxious and Messy Human
Hi, I’m Connor! A virtual art therapist based in the Kootenays, currently Nelson, BC. Here's the basics. I’ve been in the field since 2017, starting with my baccalaureate diploma in art therapy after completing my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I’m a member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association and a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

I opened Birchwood Art Therapy in early 2021 as an in-person practice in Ontario. Now, I work online with women (cis & trans) and non-binary people across Ontario and British Columbia, offering a flexible and accessible way to receive therapy from the comfort of home.

My approach blends art therapy, CBT, somatic techniques, mindfulness, and a relational, client-led style. Living with chronic anxiety myself has shaped how I show up for my clients, with empathy, curiosity, and an emphasis on building practical coping tools for everyday life.
I’m committed to ongoing learning in trauma-informed care, creative interventions for anxiety, and integrating art-making with body-based practices to support holistic healing.

A therapist with lived anxiety experience
I have always felt that it's been important to be a human with my clients. I myself, struggled for many years with chronic anxiety and panic attacks. I can blend my personal experience with my clinical skills and knowledge. That's how I know exactly what it is like and how difficult it can feel and where my passion comes from.
To the left are personal creations I have made during some of the more difficult times of my anxiety. Art was able to help me express what words couldn't at the time. I want to pass this knowledge on to others and show them the benefits of creating and explore this with an art therapist.

Connection
I believe in the importance of trust and connection within the therapeutic relationship. This can take time to develop and I believe involves ongoing conversation, me showing up as human and understanding the role of connection and community in the context of healing.
Growth
I believe that part of my role is to continually learn, grow and seek consultation. I always have a book or new topic I am exploring. I also believe in providing you with real, tangible skills for your own growth. You are the expert on you and I believe that we can learn together.
Creativity
Of course, as an art therapist, I see the magic that creativity can provide. I work with you to show and guide you creative processes. I also believe that therapy is not one size fits all. Sometimes it involves coming up with creative solutions together. I want you to feel empowered through your whole process.
